Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Compressor mobile app and this legal website. Compressor is an image and PDF compression utility. It does not operate a server for uploading or processing your selected files.

This website is static. It contains no analytics, advertising, cookies, tracking scripts, JavaScript, external fonts, or third-party embedded content. If you follow an external link, the destination provider applies its own privacy practices.

2. Selected files and on-device processing

When you choose an image or PDF, the app receives access to that file through your device's picker or media interface. Compression occurs locally on your device. The app does not upload selected images or PDFs to a Compressor server.

• Images are decoded and re-encoded locally. Re-encoded images remove EXIF metadata, which can include camera details and GPS location. If the app keeps an already-optimized original instead, that original's metadata is unchanged.
• PDFs are rendered page by page and rebuilt locally as a flattened PDF. See the Terms of Service for the content that flattening can remove.

3. Temporary files and local history

After successful compression, the app creates a temporary output in app-controlled storage and adds a local history entry. That entry can include the output filename and path, file type, MIME type, original and result sizes, and completion time. This history metadata remains on the device and is not sent to a Compressor account or analytics service.

The app's automatic cleanup behavior is:

• Tracked temporary outputs are retained for up to seven days.
• Untracked output files are given a 24-hour recovery window before cleanup.
• A history record for a missing temporary file can remain for up to 30 days so the app can explain that the file is missing.

You can delete one history item and its temporary file, or use Settings → Clear history and temporary files to remove all app-held compressed copies and history. The operating system can also clear app storage, and uninstalling the app removes app-held history and temporary copies.

These actions do not delete files you previously exported to a user-selected location, Downloads, Gallery, another app, or a cloud provider. Delete those copies at their destination.

4. User-initiated sharing and export

Compressor shares or exports a file only after you choose an action such as Share, Save, or Export. The app then gives the selected temporary copy to the operating system's share interface, document picker, Gallery, or another destination you select.

The receiving app, service, person, or storage destination may retain, upload, or process that copy under its own terms and privacy policy. Compressor cannot remove a copy after it has been transferred outside app-controlled storage.

5. Google AdMob and UMP

The free experience can show Google AdMob banner ads and optional rewarded ads. Premium access disables ads. Compressor uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request updated privacy information, show a consent or privacy-options form when required, and determine whether the app may request ads. If the privacy flow fails and ad permission is unavailable, ads remain off.

Google states that the Google Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares certain data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Depending on your device, region, settings, and choices, this can include:

• IP address, which can be used to estimate general location;
• product interactions such as app launches, taps, ad impressions, and video views;
• diagnostic information about app and SDK performance; and
• device or account identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID or app set ID when available.

UMP and the Mobile Ads SDK can store or read consent and ad-related settings on the device. Ads may be personalized, non-personalized, or limited according to applicable requirements and the choices available to you. Non-personalized or limited ads can still use data needed to deliver ads, measure aggregate performance, and prevent fraud.

6. RevenueCat and Google Play purchases

Optional premium purchases and subscriptions are offered through Google Play and managed in the app through RevenueCat. Google Play processes the payment and associates the transaction with your Google Play account. Compressor does not receive your complete payment-card details.

Compressor does not ask you to create a first-party account for purchases. The RevenueCat SDK generates an anonymous app-user identifier and exchanges purchase information needed to validate and restore access. This can include product identifiers, purchase tokens or receipts, transaction and subscription status, entitlement status, and technical information needed to operate the purchase service. RevenueCat validates store transactions and returns whether premium access is active.

7. No first-party account or analytics system

Compressor does not provide its own account, profile, cloud file storage, or behavioral analytics system. It does not build a first-party advertising profile from your compression activity. Third-party advertising and purchase providers process the data described above for their respective services.

8. Support messages

If you email support, your email provider and the receiving email service process your address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. That information is used to understand and respond to your request and to maintain necessary support records.

You do not need to send an original image or PDF for routine support. Avoid including sensitive file content, passwords, payment-card details, or information unrelated to the issue.

9. Your choices and controls

• Choose which files the system picker makes available to the app.
• Review or change advertising privacy choices from the app's Settings → Privacy options entry when Google reports that a form is required.
• Use Android's advertising controls to reset or delete the advertising ID where supported.
• Purchase Premium to disable ads, or continue using available free compression features.
• Delete individual temporary outputs, clear all local history, or uninstall the app.
• Delete exported or shared copies through the destination where you saved them.

10. Security

Keeping compression on-device avoids transmitting selected file content to a Compressor processing server. Local files are still subject to the security of your device, operating system, backups, and any destination to which you export or share them. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when app functionality, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised page will show a new “Last updated” date. Material changes should be reviewed before continuing to use affected features.
