Email supportWhat to include
Describe what you selected, the action you took, the exact message shown, your device model, Android version, and app version. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or a sensitive original file. A screenshot of the error is usually more useful than the file itself.
Image compression troubleshooting
The image cannot be selected or opened
- Confirm that the file is JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
- Try opening the image in another app to confirm it is not incomplete or corrupted.
- Reopen the system picker and grant access to the specific image when prompted.
- If a batch fails, try one image at a time to identify the unsupported file.
Compression fails or stops
- Check that the device has enough free storage.
- Close memory-intensive apps and retry.
- Choose a smaller resolution or process fewer images at once.
- Keep Compressor open until the current operation finishes.
The result is not smaller
A source may already be optimized, and PNG output can be larger for photographic content. Try JPEG or WebP, lower the quality, or reduce the resolution. Compressor can keep the original when a generated copy offers no useful saving.
Metadata changed
Re-encoded images remove EXIF metadata, including possible camera and GPS details. If the app keeps an already-optimized original, that original's metadata remains unchanged.
PDF compression troubleshooting
The PDF cannot be opened
- Confirm the document opens normally in a trusted PDF reader.
- Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are not supported.
- Download cloud-only files fully to the device before selecting them.
- A corrupted, incomplete, unusually large, or extreme PDF may be rejected by the app's safety limits.
Compression runs out of memory
- Close other memory-intensive apps.
- Use a stronger compression level.
- Try a smaller document or split it before compression.
- Make sure there is sufficient free device storage.
Text or links no longer work
This is expected for flattened output. Each page is rendered as an image, so searchable text, links, forms, annotations, signatures, layers, and accessibility structure can be lost. Review the PDF limitations.
The PDF looks softer
Stronger compression reduces page resolution and image quality. Retry with a lighter level when fine text, diagrams, or print quality matter. Always compare the output with the original before sharing it.
Saving, exporting, and sharing
A completed result first exists as a temporary app copy. Use Save or Export to create a copy in Gallery, Downloads, or another location you choose. Use Share to send a copy through Android's share interface.
- If saving fails, confirm the temporary result still appears in History, choose a different destination, and check free storage.
- If the destination picker is cancelled, no permanent copy is created; the temporary History copy remains until deletion or cleanup.
- A receiving app or cloud destination controls the copy after you share or export it.
Restore purchases
- Confirm Google Play is signed in with the account that made the purchase.
- Connect the device to the internet.
- Open Compressor and go to Settings → Restore purchases.
- Wait for Google Play and RevenueCat to finish checking.
- If no active subscription is found, verify the subscription in Google Play and restart the app before trying again.
Restoration synchronizes eligible purchase status; it does not create a new charge. If the purchase is visible in Google Play but Premium does not activate, contact support with the app version and the non-sensitive order status. Do not email payment details or a full receipt containing personal information.
Manage or cancel a subscription
Subscriptions are managed and cancelled through Google Play, not by deleting the app or clearing app data.
- In Compressor, open Settings → Manage subscription; or
- open Google Play, select your profile, then choose Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions;
- select Compressor and follow the management options shown.
Google Play controls renewal dates, cancellation, payment methods, and refund eligibility. Uninstalling Compressor does not cancel a subscription. See Google Play subscription help.
Privacy and file deletion
Selected image and PDF content is compressed on-device and is not uploaded by Compressor. The app keeps temporary outputs and local history so you can review, save, or share completed results.
- Delete one result: open History, choose the item, and confirm deletion. This removes its history entry and app-held temporary copy.
- Delete all app-held results: use Settings → Clear history and temporary files.
- Automatic cleanup: tracked temporary copies are cleaned after seven days. Orphaned outputs are cleaned after a 24-hour recovery window, and stale missing-file history entries can remain for up to 30 days.
- Uninstall: uninstalling removes app-held history and temporary files, but does not cancel a subscription.
- Exported or shared files: copies saved to Gallery, Downloads, another app, a person, or cloud storage are not deleted with app history. Remove them at their destination.
